Proposal

The Wanderer.

I have looked different places around the world Pakistan, Dubai and Morocco after looking at my own primary images and secondary I have decided to focus on Morocco, the colours and variation of patterns that are simply timeless are so inspiring to me. I will focus on looking at colour and pattern throughout Moroccan interiors.

I will look at designers that have been inspired by Morocco, and artist that have been inspired by block colour and possibly pattern. I will also touch on the European influence on Morocco during and after several European country’s invaded morocco, I will document all my research on my blog.

I will also use CHANEL as one of my inspiring designer simply because CHANEL is a French company and I want to create a collection with an European element but with a Moroccan twist. My main reason for doing this is because when morocco was invaded by France, the French left an imprint on the Moroccan's for example although people of Morocco speak Arabic the dialect differs from other Arab countries as some of the words spoken have elements of the French language. What surprises me the most is how much the French influenced morocco yet it seems that morocco has not influenced France. I believe now is the time to take such a well know European designer such as CHANEL and their classic style and give it a Moroccan twist.

I will look at how traditional Moroccan fabrics and modern fabrics and experiment with traditional embroidery and try and modernise it. I will also use some of my primary images to create new patterns and look at ways to modernise the patterns. As part of my development I will create various fabric samples and prints and sample these through my designs using photoshop. I will also try out projecting my prints on to mannequins to see what shapes take place for my design inspiration.

Once all of the above is done I will create a series of boards from concept, colour and texture. Moving on I will create around 20- 30 designs one my designs are complete I will choose one design and create my CAD that will then be used for my pattern and construction module. All the above will be documented throughout via my blog and evaluated to ensure I create good work.

THE WANDERER

When looking at this title lots of things came to my mind. I felt an urge to go and find photographs i have taken in the past. one thing that did stick with me was a quote I had came across on my travels in Dubai in 2014,

"Not all who wander are lost"

wandering the world is a beautiful thing and I have visited many beautiful places over the years so I hope to use what inspired me then to inspire my next collection.

Pakistan is a place of colour and culture, beautiful scenery, beautiful food and best of all beautiful handcrafted clothes what more could you want. Here are a few images from Pakistan.

Dubai is for one who has expensive taste, not much culture although the buildings where out of this world. here are a few images from Dubai.

Morocco my personal favourite the colours of morocco just feed your soul, you cannot help but smile the patterns and colours combined make for such a beautiful combination. some of my favourite images from morocco.

A bit about Moroccan history.

According to many sources

Morocco as a county has been though so much through out the years different European counties have invaded the country one invasion in particular has left a great in-print on morocco and the people of morocco. in 1912 morocco became invaded by France causing many issues throughout this protectorate ended in march 1956.

within 31 years France influenced morocco in many ways for example the language, people of morocco speak Arabic but the arabic spoken differs from any other Arab country it has an element of the French language.

When speaking to some of my friends who originate from Morocco they tell me that when France left they left a part of there culture. but through the years France has become a country that has influenced many others however, what is a shame is how such a beautiful country like Morocco with some much to offer hasn't influenced Europe in any way.

Here is a link with the moroccan history timeline.

This part of moroccan history has inspired me to fuse European style with the beauty of moroccan interior, colour and pattern.
